The Hotel Matilda, a new property in San Miguel de Allende. |
September may be the month to commemorate the bicentennial of Mexico’s independence as well as the centennial of the Mexican Revolution, but one hotelier is also celebrating its own personal accomplishment: The debut of a brand-new hotel.
Described as an “iconoclastic boutique hotel,” the 32-room Hotel Matilda welcomed its first guests today, September 24, in San Miguel de Allende. The property, which is filled with contemporary art, including some commissioned specifically for the hotel, promises a different style of ambiance from many existing hotels in this popular tourist and retirement destination.
A 4,700-square-foot spa offers a variety of treatments, and an infinity pool and a restaurant serving international cuisine are among the on-site offerings, and the property even offers a Canine Club Pet Program for pets up to 20 pounds.
To celebrate the opening, Hotel Matilda is offering special opening rates starting at $195, including breakfast, through the end of 2010.
