During my most recent trip to Mexico City, I stayed several nights at the centrally located Galeria Plaza Reforma, which offers attractive room rates and lots of amenities. Here is a summary of my experience at the hotel.
THE STYLE: Conservative but attractive, the 434-room Galeria Plaza Reforma sits in a central location in Mexico‘s capital, near the grand Paseo de la Reforma boulevard and the Zona Rosa, a lively neighborhood that’s great for dining and nightlife. Part of the Las Brisas Collection and a member of Preferred Hotels and Resorts, this Mexico City hotel is a full-service property that offers reasonable prices, and its recent renovations make it an even more attractive option, especially considering the location and number of on-site amenities.

MY GUEST ROOM: We stayed on the 10th floor, which is a club-level floor. Our room was rather spacious, with a king-size bed, a large work desk, and a partial view of the Angel de la Independencia, the iconic statue on nearby Paseo de la Reforma. The room had attractive light fixtures (including great reading lamps for the bed and a tiny-yet-powerful desk lamp), a mini-bar, safe-deposit box and exceptionally strong, free WiFi (a huge plus in my book). The room also has a safe-deposit box, coffee maker and modern bathroom with amenities from Neutrogena (it’s always a pleasure to find brands that I actually recognize when I travel). Guest rooms are decorated with a pleasing palette of cream and brown tones.
Club-level rooms include access to the Brisas Business Club, a large executive lounge with high ceilings, lots of windows, and tables, chairs and couches that are good for relaxing and socializing as well as enjoying the free continental breakfast and free afternoon snacks (free wine is included with the afternoon snacks).

HOTEL FEATURES: We really enjoyed the rooftop gym and heated swimming pool, both of which offer good city views and are free to use for all hotel guests (a definite selling point as you compare room rates and amenities in the neighborhood). There are lots of chaise lounges and chairs on the roof as well, so you can sit and relax.
The hotel has a lobby bar, a brand-new ground-floor restaurant that opened in 2015, and offers free newspapers to guests. Business travelers can make use of the business center and extensive meeting and event space.

BEST FOR: Business and leisure travelers looking for value prices, extensive amenities and a central location near Paseo de la Reforma and the Zona Rosa will find much to like here. The club floor lounge offers added value for business travelers and people looking for extra service, while the rooftop pool and gym provide lots of space to relax and stay in shape while on vacation in the heart of the metropolis, at a rate lower than many other Mexico City hotels with pools.
RATES: About $80 and up.
