In my new role as business travel blogger for the popular booking site Orbitz, I’m already uncovering interesting travel tips and trends that go well beyond the world of the business traveler. In my recent post about hotel manager receptions, for example, I highlighted how hotels in many U.S. cities entice guests with free cocktails and snacks.
I also mentioned San Juan, Puerto Rico, where several hotels offer manager’s receptions. Here are a few examples of hotels where you can enjoy tropical drinks while socializing.
• At Hotel El Convento, a gorgeously restored, 350-year-old former convent in Old San Juan, complimentary wine and cheese receptions take place daily on the hotel’s La Veranda Terrace — allowing the general manager and sales team to mingle with guests.
• The Embassy Suites San Juan Hotel & Casino, in the Isla Verde district, hosts a free manager’s reception from 5:30 to 7:30pm daily in the hotel’s atrium.
• The Doubletree by Hilton San Juan stages a free cocktail reception — you need an invitation to get into this one, but if you’re a frequent guest or a member of Hilton’s awards program, you can probably talk your way into getting an invite.
