One of the nicest resorts that I’ve visited in Costa Rica has now gone all-inclusive. The Hilton Papagayo Costa Rica Resort & Spa, which is tucked scenically into lush hills overlooking the Gulf of Papagayo in the popular vacation area known as Guanacaste, is an upscale retreat with amenities galore.
As of May 1, this property is offering all-inclusive rates that start at just $129 per person, per night — not a bad deal for such a beautiful property, in one of Costa Rica’s fastest-growing locations for tourism.
During my stay a while back, I enjoyed the view from my gorgeous bungalow and wandered the well-landscaped grounds to the water, took a sunset cruise on the bay, indulged in the excellent cuisine at the resort’s three restaurants, and — best of all, from my point of view — took advantage of some amazing spa services in the recently expanded Spa Vida, which has 13 treatment rooms and sits next to one of the resort’s three glorious swimming pools.
The resort can also arrange a variety of excursions off-site, and is easy to reach from the United States via the international airport in Liberia. With its lush landscaping and lazily winding walkways leading to the property’s 202 guest rooms (including 71 bungalows), the Hilton Papagayo feels uncrowded, relaxed and elegant, like a private village with an amazing view. And now, with the all-inclusive resort format, it just might be an even better deal.
