Which is more interesting to you: Reading about the rich history of Mexico or checking out photos of the world’s weirdest toilets? Whichever topic captures your attention, you’ll have a chance to win a book to indulge your curiosity, thanks to a new giveaway contest from LatinFlyer.com.
In the few short months since it’s launched, LatinFlyer.com has grown quickly, proving the need for a reliable source of Latin America travel information. (Heck, it’s already attracted nearly 70,000 visitors from countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil and Mexico — which is not bad, considering this is a one-guy operation, it’s not my main job, and there are millions of blogs out there on the Internet.)
Now it’s time to reward a few of you loyal readers, as you help me boost LatinFlyer’s Twitter following beyond the all-important 1,000 mark.
So here’s the deal: The lucky person who becomes the 1,000th follower on Twitter is going to win. Big time. OK, maybe not big time, since I don’t have corporate partners that would allow me to regale you with business-class tickets to Rio or Buenos Aires. So how about a book, straight from the LatinFlyer Library?
That’s right, the 1,000th person to follow LatinFlyer on Twitter will win one of two valuable books:
• The Oxford History of Mexico by William Beezley and Michael Meyer (editors). Some 688 pages of fascinating history are packed into this sizeable paperback, which was released last year just in time for the nation’s bicentennial. It’s a worthy resource for anyone interested in the story of this complex, dynamic republic.
• Toilets of the World by Morna E. Gregory and Sian James. This 256-page paperback has glorious photographs of the most offbeat toilets from the far corners of the world (including Latin America). Certainly not your average travel photo book.
You’ll win either of the books you want (I’ll pay for shipping within the United States; otherwise you’ll need to pay for shipping). I’ll even throw in a LatinFlyer sticker, which you can use to show off your love for Latin America on your car bumper or laptop.
The 1,001st subscriber to LatinFlyer on Twitter will also get a sticker, and whichever book the first-place winner didn’t pick.
What do you get if you don’t win? Well, you still get lots of great information. My Twitter feed is more than just Tweets promoting LatinFlyer. You’ll also get curated links to the latest news and tips about Latin America, business travel and globetrotting in general, from top media sites around the world — not to mention occasional random personal musings about dining, travel and other aspects of life on the road and in the air.
So what are you waiting for? Follow LatinFlyer on Twitter today. (And start thinking about whether toilets or history rank higher on your list of interests.)
