Well-traveled stylistas are already well aware that Mexico City is a hub for design, art, fashion, cuisine and creativity. Now, two new guides — one in the form of an app and the other a guidebook — are making it easier than ever to discover the best that the largest metropolis in North America has to offer.
StyleMap Mexico City, a free application, was released on July 28, as the electronic version of a handy English-language guidebook published by Travesías, a leading travel magazine based in Mexico City. The app — which provides detailed information about Mexico City’s best neighborhoods, restaurants, hotels, art galleries, shopping and museums — is compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and requires iOS 3.1.3 or later.
Meanwhile, Wallpaper* Magazine, the global arbiter of style, has just released its Wallpaper* City Guide Mexico City 2012, a decidedly design-conscious summary of the most fashion-forward hotels, shopping, restaurants, nightlife and other sites. You won’t find hum-drum recommendations about bland touristy things here; this is strictly for travelers who appreciate a trendy approach to sightseeing (it’s especially good for finding noteworthy modern architecture). And it’s packaged in a cute size that fits easily in a pocket or handbag.
