Riu Hotels & Resorts now features guest-made photos from Flickr on its site. This Cancun shot made by Skies for Me. |
Let’s face it. You can’t always believe the photos you see on hotel Websites. After all, you can glamorize just about anything with some professional retouching. So it’s a bold, interesting and helpful move that Riu Hotels & Resorts, the Spain-based hotelier that has hotels in several Latin American nations, has begun integrating guest-generated Flickr photos on its own corporate Website.
The result is not only helpful but also interesting from an artistic perspective. When you go to the page of a particular Riu property, you’ll find not just the company’s beauty shots, but an array of photos created by guests and posted on Flickr. Clicking on the Flickr link will take you to even more. Some focus on the hotel’s physical attributes (which helps you to see what the hotel looks like), while other take more artistic and creative points of view, and others depict the guests themselves, providing a welcome human touch in the imagery. It’s a welcome change from the usual dry corporate sites.
News Note: The brand-new Riu Plaza Guadalajara, the second in the company’s new urban hotel brand, opens June 17.
