For U.S. travelers who are on the road during the month of October, the upcoming presidential and vice-presidential debates might seem a bit less exciting when watched alone on CNN International in a boring hotel room. But one Puerto Rico hotel — the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa — is making the event more social, by “celebrating democracy” with poolside screenings of the debates.
Between October 3 and 22, adults and kids who are staying at the hotel will be invited to the resort’s swimming pool, where a “beverage debate” will commence the festivities, complete with “presidential cocktails.” President Obama’s favorite, the Americano (which contains Campari and sweet vermouth), will be served alongside Romney’s chocolate milk in both cocktail or mocktail forms.
In addition to popcorn, Obama’s favorite chocolate chip cookies and Romney’s Welsh cookies will also be served amid the sea of political red and blue. Regardless of political position, these refreshments sound like something we can all agree on.
