Project runway: The new Aeromexico flight attendant uniforms, at their 2011 debut. |

New flights. New airline partners. A fresh infusion of investment cash from Delta Air Lines. And chic new flight attendant uniforms. Aeromexico had plenty to celebrate at its recent industry party in New York City.
In this EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW VIDEO (the top one is in English, the one below that is in Spanish), Aeromexico’s executive vice president of sales, Jorge Goytortua, spoke with LatinFlyer.com about the news coming from Mexico’s largest airline — including new nonstop flights between New York and Cancun, and a growing number of alliances with Latin American airlines including Avianca, Copa and TACA. On a personal note, Goytortua also shares his own recommendations for the best way to spend a Mexico vacation.
Flight Attendant Uniforms
During my own recent flight on Aeromexico between New York City and Cancun to work the Americas Summit (a major tourism conference organized by the World Travel & Tourism Council), I noticed the company’s striking new flight attendant uniforms, which include jaunty hats and matching shoes.
It had been several months since last I flew the fleet of the “Eagle Knight” (the airline’s logo), so I hadn’t even realized that in 2011, the carrier introduced a new uniform style, created by Mexican designer Alejandra Quesada. I’ve always been a big fan of the stylishly unique hats and capes worn by Avianca flight attendants, so it’s a welcome change to see yet another carrier stepping beyond the predictable business suit.

That’s not the only designer that’s been visiting Aeromexico’s headquarters recently. The company chose industrial designer Ezequiel Farca to redo Premier Class and economy class seating aboard its 767 aircraft. Long-haul passengers can now make use of espresso machines in Premier Class flights to South America, Europe and Asia.
