If you like a relaxed Mexican Caribbean beach vibe and a bit of Jimmy Buffett style, then you’ll probably love Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun, an all-inclusive Mexico beach resort that opened in 2020.
In this hotel tour, hotel review and travel video, I take you inside the property to show 8 cool things to do — including enjoying the beautiful Caribbean beach, hanging out at the hotel pools and enjoying excellent cuisine and indulgent treatments at the hotel spa. And you won’t want to miss some of the truly unique vacation experiences — including the Blender Bike and the Floating Taco lunch! This family-friendly Mexico resort is ideal for travelers looking for a laidback beach vacation on a smaller scale than the nearby mega-resorts.

DON’T MISS: 10 Amazing Places in Latin America for Travel Photos

Opened in 2020 after a major revamp of the former Azul Beach Resort by Karisma, Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun is a laidback, relaxed place with lots of great things to do. Here are 8 of them.
- Hanging out on the beach is of course a natural choice. Margaritaville has a scenic stretch of land, and you could spend hours relaxing on the sands and wading into the warm waters.
- The multiple swimming pools are also a great place to relax, and that’s why relaxing at the pool is my #2 suggestion. No matter what room you have here, you’re just a few steps from a pool and a lounge chair — and the beach.
My insider tip: Get up at sunrise to enjoy the most amazing views.

•••••••• - Indulge in a spa treatment. St. Somewhere Spa offers a number of treatments. This treatment area is used for brides and honeymooners.
- Savor the sophisticated cuisine. I loved the delicious Asian-Latin cuisine at the restaurant called Latino — and it’s all included!
- Have a truly memorable lunch IN the pool — Margaritaville offers a “floating taco experience” that’s both delicious and fun.
- Mix your own drinks! the coolest way to enjoy a drink is to make it yourself using the resort’s BLENDER BIKES. What better way to burn the calories you’re about to drink? If you’re not in the mood to work for your drinks, not to worry. Cocktails and liquid refreshments are served at multiple bars. A rum-tasting session was another memorable experience here.

- Enjoying time in your room is another rewarding experience. There are various room categories, and they’re all close to a pool and the beach. Let’s take a look at one of the biggest suites. There’s definitely a lot of room to spread out here.
