During my recent visit to Mexico‘s capital (and following a three-night stay at the luxurious St. Regis Mexico City), I was a guest at the Le Meriden Mexico City, a strategically located hotel on the grand Paseo de la Reforma boulevard, in the heart of the city. Following is a review of my experience at the hotel, which does a good job of combining spacious accommodations, multiple amenities and a central location in Mexico’s capital.
THE STYLE: Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, are known for their modern style, and this Mexico City hotel is no exception. The entrance is dominated by two lovely curved staircases, which lead to the reception desk and lobby bar. Decor is overall colorful and contemporary, and a hip, lounge-like Le Meridien soundtrack plays in the lobby and elevators.

GUEST ROOMS: All of the accommodations at Le Meridien Mexico City are suites. I stayed in room 1709, which had a comfortable living room with TV, minibar, refrigerator and microwave, as well as a large bathroom and a bedroom with very comfy king-size bed as well as safe deposit box, TV and work desk. WiFi costs 119 Mexican pesos per day in guest rooms, but it’s free in the public spaces.

FEATURES: The indoor swimming pool is my personal favorite on-site amenity at Le Meridien Mexico City hotel. Attractive and inviting, the pool is located on a lower level, with warm water and a hot tub, as well as a well-equipped adjacent gym — overall, it feels a bit like a dramatically set private club. There is also a business center, ground-floor restaurant and Starbucks on site (I didn’t have a chance to try the restaurant, but it’s an attractive venue with large windows that probably make for good people watching along Paseo de la Reforma). It’s about a 20-minute walk to either the heart of the Centro Historico or the Zona Rosa, and the Monumento a la Revolución (Revolution Monument) is just a couple blocks away.
