ExpressGuide: Acapulco
1. STAY: Hotel El Encanto (Expensive; minimalist gem with amazing views); Boca Chica (mid-priced; relaxed retro-chic in the older part of town — splurge on a Sunset Suite); Calinda Beach (inexpensive; family-friendly beachfront property with all-inclusive option)
2. EAT & DRINK: Zibu (expensive; Mex-Thai fusion cuisine in an elegant hillside venue) and Playita Santa Lucia (mid-priced; loungey open-air beach club with Bali day beds on Acapulco Bay)
3. SHOP: Centro Cultural de Acapulco (Acapulco Cultural Center; traditional souvenirs, handmade crafts and original gallery-quality art)
4. DO: Must-sees for first-timers include the cliff divers, the Diego Rivera mural and San Diego fort. But top priority should be to soak in the sunny glamour that helped make Acapulco into Mexico’s first jet-set resort destination. If you’re a fan of Latin pop music, be sure to see who’s playing at the Forum, a major entertainment venue that attracts international names.
5. MORE: Oficina de Convenciones y Visitantes de Acapulco (the Acapulco Convention & Visitors Bureau)
